New Restaurants this January 2021
While many people believe in the saying, “new year, new me”, I prefer to focus my energies on finding new restaurants to dine at as part of my New Year’s resolutions.
From a Yanxi Palace-themed hotpot restaurant to a Korean street food cafe with corn dogs and croissant waffles, here are 8 new restaurants in Singapore this January 2021 to check out if you’re a like-minded foodie.
1. Yanxi Palace Steamboat
Whether you’re a fan of the period Chinese drama, Yanxi Palace or not, you’ll still be able to appreciate the mouth-watering hotpot spread at Yanxi Palace Steamboat. The themed restaurant has over 100 items on the menu, including housemade broths in flavours such as Buddha Jumps Over The Wall (from $10.50). Presentation is important here too, so ingredients like Rose Beef Tongue ($18), Seafood Lollipops ($12), and Rose Tofu ($8) all taste as good as they look.
Other goodies include XL Bubble Tea ($5) in flavours like Da Hong Pao, Earl Grey, and Matcha to quench your thirst.
The restaurant is located at Hotel Re!’s Grand Ballroom, outfitted with carpeted floors, velvet chairs, and high ceilings. Don’t expect there to be decor that hardcore nods to Yanxi Palace, though, as this restaurant prefers to keep its references very subtle.

Korean street food, especially corndogs, have been getting trendier lately thanks to hit dramas like Start-Up. Get your hands on those, in flavours like Mozza ($5) and Cereal ($5), as well as unique bites like Injeolmi Croffles ($5.50) at Bunsik. Also on the menu is Ddeokbokki ($9.90), a
