Kwang Kee Teochew Fish Porridge has been around since the 1960s, starting out at the old Tanglin car park, and has remained popular to this day. Founded by Tan Cheng Khim, the stall is currently run by his son, Jason Tan. Jason decided to take over the business as he has been helping out his father since young and feels a great deal of satisfaction to see his regular customers. With its immense popularity, even local celebrities, ministers, and chefs have come to have a taste of Kwang Kee’s scrumptious food!

Jason prepares the soup daily at 9am and usually takes at least one and a half hours to achieve the flavourful broth. The fish stock is boiled with fresh fish and fish bones to give it that depth of flavour that customers can’t get enough of. Kwang Kee was featured in the Michelin Bib Gourmand this year, making it a must-try dish whenever you’re at Newton Food Centre!
